It's Our Turn by D.C. Kile is a soft, brother's best friend, small town romance that will get you out of your reading slump (I know because it got me out of mine). It is book 3 of the Underwood Farms series, but can be read as a standalone if you want. When Lucy, the town's sweetheart, and Cam, the resident playboy find their way to each other after discovering their feelings about one another, nobody can keep keep them apart, not even his best friend, her own brother.
I was captivated by Lucy's vibrant personality and her determination to chase er dreams. Her deep love for her family and friends, coupled with their strong bonds, made her character truly endearing. Cma, on the other hand, is a man trying to run away and hide from his past in fear of facing the same struggle. He uses relationships—or lack thereof— as a means to hide. However, he never expected to fall for Lucy, but as the saying goes, "the heart wants what it wants". Their dynamic adds a rich flavor to the story, blending depth with emotion.
The plot was engaging and well paced, with a seamless flow of events that made everything feel coherent and natural. Each twist and turn felt natural, contributing to a narrative that held my interest from start to finish. The story ensures that the reader (you and I) remain invested in the characters' journey and the unfolding drama.
One of the most endearing aspects of the story was its depiction of a close-knit social circle and the importance of familial bonds, even those not tied by blood. The relationships dynamics between Lucy and Cam, and Lucy and her friends were beautifully portrayed adding a deep feeling of warmth and belonging to the story.
For those who enjoy a sweet, childhood crush to lovers tale with some spicy content, this book is then a must-read.I wholeheartedly recommend it, and hope you, my dear reader, enjoy as much as i did.
You can check my review of this book on my Bookstagram and Goodreads, and would love to hear your own thoughts on it. Now I am eager to dive into the first two books of the series. (Yes, I am super guilty of reading books in series out of order).
