A Witch & Her Dragon by Emberly Windham (ARC)

 

A Witch & Her Dragon is a fantasy romance novel by Emberly Windham. She is known for her romantasy books; this is her latest novel, the first in the Coven Crest Academy series. It is scheduled to be published on June 3rd, 2025, so if you are a lover of fantasy romance, I hope you are ready for this one and get to enjoy it once it is out. 

Alina is the witch princess of a great magical kingdom, and Raelan is her protector, one who was carefully handpicked by her grandfather, the king, himself. As the story progresses, bot Alina and Raelen find themselves battling feelings that neither of them is ready to confront. 

I was enamoured by the world-building of the story and its magic. The detailed description in the novel provided another layer of closeness as you can now, not only read it, but also imagine the world and walk through the book as if you are one of the characters yourself. 

Alina is represented as a strong female figure who is set on achieving her goals and making the best out of what she believed at first to be a shitty situation, however, that opinion did not take very long to change.

Raelan is the king's most loyal knight, therefore, he was picked to be the princesses' protector and both quickly come to realise that their relationship is not a simple one of a princess and her bodyguard. So I wonder how did they work through this conflict? I won't spoil anything and will let you discover it on your own once the novel is out.

The plot was engaging and well paced, I enjoyed the calm events as well as the more rocky ones, which got me standing on my toes with anticipation of what will happen next. 

So if you enjoy fantasy novels that are sprinkled with lots and lots of romance, I believe this will 100% be a great read.
